The National Hockey League announced today that Flyers goaltender Brian Elliott has been named the Third Star of the Week.
Elliott led all goaltenders during the week with a perfect 3-0-0 record to go along with a 2.02 goals-against average and allowed seven goals on 104 shots for a .933 save percentage.
He kicked off the week by stopping 33 of 35 shots to help the Flyers to a 6-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday and followed that up with a 4-1 win on Thursday at Chicago where he was awarded the Flyers "Player of the Game" golden helmet after making 23 saves on 24 shots.
He finished the week with a 7-4 win over the Blue Jackets on Saturday night (22 saves) and stopped all 19 shots he faced coming in relief of Carter Hart in Sunday's loss at Long Island.
Elliott has appeared in six games this season, his third with the Flyers, and has made four starts while posting a 3-1-0 record to go along with a .926 save percentage and 2.28 GAA.
This is the third time that Elliott has been named a 'Star of the Week' by the NHL as a Flyer. He was named Third Star on Dec. 11, 2017 and Second Star the very next week on Dec. 18.
