The Flyers annual Development Camp kicks off this week and after a holiday weekend it’s time for some summer hockey. Below are five storylines fans should pay attention to as they get to know the future of the team… and a closer glimpse of the players
(# next to players name is the jersey number they have been assigned at camp)
Flyers fans can get their first look at the two first round draft picks two weeks ago. Provorov (#79), who has already inked his entry-level contract with the Flyers, is the latest to headline a group of talented blueliners taken in Round 1 (see Morin, 2013 & Sanheim, 2014) on the Flyers depth chart.
Travis Konecny (#80) is coming off another career year with the Ottawa 67’s in the OHL and saw his stock rise to be selected in the first round. He fills an important need to replenish a group of forwards for the Flyers, who now also boast newcomers David Kase (#57) from the Czech Republic, Samuel Dove-McFalls (#81) and Cooper Marody (#82) from this year’s draft class, not to mention last year’s talented crop of forwards as well as veterans Scott Laughton and Taylor Leier.
Forward Mikhail Vorobyov (4th Rd, 104th overall) and goaltender Ivan Fedotov (7th Rd, 188th overall) will not be at camp.
