CSN Playoff Programming for Eastern Conference Finals

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers
(Philadelphia, PA) – Comcast SportsNet has announced its schedule of comprehensive Flyers playoff coverage for the 2008 Eastern Conference Finals as the Philadelphia Flyers take on the Penguins in the best-of-seven series.

Comcast SportsNet’s special coverage will include two live 30-minute specials previewing the series, live 30 minute pre game shows and extended post game coverage, special Flyers features during Daily News Live and SportsNite, and an encore presentation of the classic 2000 Eastern Conference Final showdown between the Flyers and the Penguins that defines the rivalry between the two Pennsylvania teams.

Comcast SportsNet’s coverage begins on Wednesday, May 7 at 7:00 pm with the first of two live playoff preview specials entitled Keystone Clash. Also airing Thursday night, Keystone Clash features Michael Barkann, Steve Coates, Al Morganti and Chris Therien in studio, Lance Crawford reporting live from Pittsburgh, and special guests for further Flyers insight.  Keystone Clash will break down the Penguins’ strengths and weaknesses, explore the rivalry between the teams, and analyze what the Flyers need to do in order to defeat their cross-state opponent.

Comcast SportsNet viewers can relive one of the most intense, gritty games in the storied Flyers-Penguins history, game four of the 2000 Eastern Conference Semifinals.  After dropping the first two games at home, the Flyers headed west to Pittsburgh and took one back in game three.  Game four, reairing on Comcast SportsNet on Friday and Saturday, became an instant classic when Keith Primeau scored the winning Flyers goal at 2:35 a.m. during the fifth overtime.

Flyers fans can also go online to www.ComcastSportsNet.com for comprehensive Flyers coverage throughout the series.  Play-by-play announcer Jim Jackson will host a live web chat to share his insights during each game, as well as during Comcast SportsNet’s pre and post game coverage and both episodes of Keystone Clash, and Comcast SportsNet’s John Boruk will provide Flyers fans live updates as he blogs from his perch in the press box.

Comcast SportsNet’s Flyers ratings surged this season, with regular season ratings increasing 47% to a 2.2 average Nielsen household rating (66,000 households), and playoffs ratings spiking more than 200% over the regular season, averaging a 6.8 Nielsen household rating (202,000 households).
