The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have signed 6-5, 220-lb defenseman Braydon Coburn to a multi-year contract extension, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
"We are happy to have Braydon under contract,” Holmgren said. “He is and will continue to be a big part of our defense corps."
Coburn, 26 (2-27-85), is in his sixth season with the Flyers. He was acquired from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Alexi Zhitnik on February 24, 2007. In 355 games with the Flyers, Coburn has recorded 26 goals and 83 assists for 109 points, along with 313 penalty minutes and a plus-32 rating.
In 54 playoff games for the Flyers, Coburn has scored two goals and added 14 assists for 16 points, along with 49 PIM and a plus-4 rating.
Coburn was drafted by Atlanta in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
