The National Hockey League announced that it has suspended Flyers forward Dan Carcillo for two games for his high stick on Devils forward David Clarkson during Sunday’s game vs. New Jersey.

Carcillo was issued a match penalty and game misconduct with 4:34 remaining in the game.

“I am disappointed in this decision by the league office,” said Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren. “This was clearly an accidental high stick, and I do not believe a match penalty (for intent to injure) was the call that was warranted.”

Carcillo will miss Thursday's game in New York against the Islanders (7:00 p.m., CSN), as well as Friday's home game with the Montreal Canadiens (7:00 p.m., CSN, Tickets).

He is eligible to return on Sunday, April 4, vs. Detroit (12:30 p.m., NBC, Tickets).

In 72 games this season, Carcillo has 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points and 196 penalty minutes. It is the second time he has been suspended this season.
