Winnipeg enters tonight's game having won four of their last five games and earning points in all five contests, going 4-0-1, while outscoring their opponent, 19-9… They have climbed to second place in the Central Division… The Jets are a perfect 6-0-0 in games when they lead after the second period… Jets rookie, Patrik Laine, the #2 overall pick in last year's draft, leads all players in the NHL with 12 goals and leads all rookies in scoring with 17 points.

The Flyers have five of their seven wins when they out-shoot their opponent, going 5-4-1, while the Jets have won six of their nine wins, going 6-2-2, when they have been out-shot by their opponent… The Flyers lead all teams in the NHL with the most shots at 560 and shots per-game at 32.9… They lead in unblocked shots attempts for (598).

 

4. GOALS, GOALS, GOALS!

With shots, often come goals and these two teams are among the best in the NHL… The Flyers rank third in the NHL with 55 goals scored, while the Jets are tied for fourth with 53… The Flyers lead the NHL in power-play goals (17), while the Jets are tied for the NHL lead in shorthanded goals (3)… The Jets lead all teams in the NHL with 25 goals scored in the third period, while the Flyers rank second in the NHL for goals in the second period (24).

 

5. PLAYERS TO WATCH: 

FLYERS (G: #35 - Steve Mason)

Should he get the start, Mason will be appearing in his fifth straight game, going 1-2-2 with a 2.88 GAA, while also stopping 43 of the last 46 shots he has faces… Mason also has a good track record against the Jets - he is unbeaten in regulation against Winnipeg, going 5-0-1 with a 1.23 GAA and .958 save percentage.

JETS (C: #55 - Mark Scheifele)

The 23-year-old not only leads the Jets in scoring, but is tied for the overall NHL lead with 21 points (10g-11a), while his 10 goals are tied for second in the NHL… He has five multi-point games… He also has five points (1g-4a) in six career games against the Flyers… Scheifele was taken seventh overall in the 2011 Draft, one head of Sean Couturier.

On November 17, 1997, legendary Flyers broadcaster Gene Hart was enshrined into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto after his selection as the recipient of the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award. At the time, he was the sixth member of the Flyers organization to be inducted into the "big" Hall.
