1. FLYING BY

The Flyers are playing their fourth game in a schedule that has seen them play four games in six days… They are trying to snap a two-game losing skid and have not dropped three straight games in regulation yet this season… The Flyers are second in shots (715) and tied for third in the NHL in most goals scored (67), but lead all NHL teams in goals allowed (73).

2. HEATING UP

The Flames come into tonight's game with a 10-12-1 record, but have won five of their last seven games, including their current two-game winning streak… All five of the wins have been low-scoring games, averaging just 2.00 goals-per-game… The Flames are also unbeaten in regulation when holding a lead after the second period, going 7-0-1.

3. THE GOALIE SITUATION

Flames goaltender Chad Johnson has earned the last five wins and started six of the last seven games… This season he has a 7-3-1 record with a 1.98 GAA and .928 save percentage… Flyers' Steve Mason has appeared in nine straight games, the second most of any NHL goalie since Nov. 8… Should back up Anthony Stolarz get the start, he will make his NHL debut after dressing 26 times as a back up, but never seeing game action… He would become the first goaltender in NHL history that is a native of the state of New Jersey.

4. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER

THIS: Both teams have a majority of their wins when they score the first goal - the Flyers are 5-1-2, while the Flames are 7-2-1 when opening up the game.

THAT: Tonight's game will feature two of the Top 10 rookies in scoring with Flyers' Travis Konecny posting 12 points (4g-8a) in 22 games and Flames' Matthew Tkachuk recording nine points (5g-4a) in 19 games.

THE OTHER: The Flyers are tied for second in the NHL on the power play at 25.7%, while the Flames have the NHL's worst power play at 9.3 percent

5. PLAYERS TO WATCH:

FLYERS (C: #28 - Claude Giroux)

The Flyers captain loves playing the Flames - he averages over a point per game in his career with 11 points (2g-9a) in 10 games… He also has a five-game point streak playing Calgary with eight points (1g-7a)… Giroux also loves playing the Western Conference, he has seven assists in seven games against teams from the West this year.

FLAMES (RW: #67 - Michael Frolik)

He is the Flames leading scorer with 14 points (6g-8a) in 23 games, but has been held scoreless in his last two games… The 6th overall pick (by Florida) in the 2006 NH LDraft will also appear in his 600th game in the NHL tonight… Against the Flyers, Folik averages nearly a point per game with six goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 17 career meetings.
