In honor of the Philadelphia Flyers 50th anniversary, five heritage nights will highlight the team’s 2016-17 promotional calendar.
These celebratory nights, all on Thursdays, will feature special guests and alumni, pre-game ceremonies, and more, beginning with Flyers Hall of Fame Night on October 27 vs. the Arizona Coyotes, and spanning for the duration of the season with Tough Guys Night on November 17 vs. the Winnipeg Jets, Goalies Night on December 8 vs. the Edmonton Oilers, Playoff Heroes Night on January 12 vs. the Vancouver Canucks, and Captains Night on February 2 vs. the Montreal Canadiens.
Opening Night, October 20 vs. the Anaheim Ducks, will kick off the 50th anniversary with an exclusive 50 Years of Flyers Hockey retrospective, team introductions, and a special tribute to the late Ed Snider.
Staples of the Flyers promotional calendar also include two Dietz and Watson Dollar Dog Nights (October 25 vs. the Buffalo Sabres and December 6 vs. the Florida Panthers), SUPERPRETZEL Dollar Pretzel Night on November 15 vs. the Ottawa Senators, Season Ticket Member Appreciation Night on January 21 vs. the New Jersey Devils, Kids Day on February 11 vs. the San Jose Sharks, and Fan Appreciation Night, March 28 vs. the Ottawa Senators.
The Flyers will continue the tradition of honoring worthy causes and community organizations with several awareness nights during the 2016-17 season, including Hockey Fights Cancer Night on November 2 vs. the Detroit Red Wings, Military Appreciation Night on November 8 vs. the Detroit Red Wings, and Autism Awareness Night on March 30 vs. the New York Islanders. In conjunction with these special community games, the team will wear purple warm-up jerseys for Hockey Fights Cancer Night and camouflage warm-up jerseys for Military Appreciation Night.
This season, the team will also welcome a new addition to the slate with Mental Health Awareness Night on March 13 vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets. This night will recognize Do It For Daron, an organization that encourages youths to openly discuss mental illness.
