The Philadelphia Flyers will open their 2015 training camp on Friday, September 18 with 61 players reporting for on-ice sessions at the Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ, according to general manager Ron Hextall.
The 2015 training camp will begin with three consecutive days of on-ice sessions that are free and open to the public. The Flyers will be on the ice for sessions at 9:45 AM and 1:00 PM on September 18, 19 and 20.
Flyers fans of all ages are invited to enjoy the family-friendly “Super Saturday” of Training Camp on September 19. The first 250 fans in attendance will receive a Flyers “Play Boldly” t-shirt, and all fans will receive a Flyers season schedule key chain. A variety of interactive games and booths will be available to visit, including Flyers 5K, Reading Royals, and Lehigh Valley Phantoms-themed set-ups. Fans can also visit the FREE open-air Flyers photo booth, as well as the Dunkin Donuts booth for the opportunity to win prizes.
The Flyers will begin their preseason game schedule on Monday, September 21 with a split-squad set of games against the New York Islanders. Half of the teams will square off at PPL Center in Allentown, PA, the home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, while the other half of each squad will meet at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the new home of the Islanders. Both games start at 7 PM.
The following evening, the Flyers will play their first Wells Fargo Center preseason home game when they host the New York Rangers at 7 PM. After three more days of camp, the Flyers will host the Islanders at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday, September 25 at 6 PM.
Over the course of the training camp’s second full week, the Flyers will play three more games. They’ll visit the New York Rangers on September 28, return home to host New Jersey on September 30, and then will conclude their preseason schedule with a visit to the Devils on Friday, October 2. All three games start at 7 PM.
The Flyers’ three preseason games at the Wells Fargo Center will all be televised on The Comcast Network (9/22, 9/25 and 9/30). The September 21 game in Brooklyn and all subsequent preseason games will be broadcast on the Flyers Radio Network; the October 2 game at New Jersey will be on 93.3 WMMR, while all other broadcasts will be on 97.5 The Fanatic. Broadcast plans for the September 21 game in Allentown are still being finalized.
All on-ice sessions at The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone will be free and open to the public throughout training camp. Ice times past the first weekend of camp will be posted on Philadelphiaflyers.com as they become available.
