2015-16 Highlight of the Year: Wildcard Voting Begins

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers
Past champions include Simon Gagne, Claude Giroux and Steve Mason, who took home last year’s title of 2014-15 Highlight of the Year.

Now it’s time for a new highlight to take the crown as this summer’s official voting season kicks off with a wildcard round to determine which highlight you want to advance into the main field for the 2015-16 Highlight of the Year Tournament.

Watch each highlight below and vote as many times as you like for which one highlight will advance into the main bracket and face off against Michal Neuvirth in the Quarterfinals.

DEC. 4 at New Jersey Devils: Matt Read strips the puck off Devils forward Kyle Palmieri in the defensive zone, then carries down the wing on a 2-on-1 and waits out Cory Schneider to score and give the Flyers a 4-3 overtime win in Newark.

FEB. 11 vs. Buffalo Sabres: Nick Cousins steals the puck in the defensive zone, then blasts a slap shot past Sabres goalie Robin Lehner for his first NHL goal in a 5-1 win over Buffalo.

FEB. 29 vs. Calgary Flames: Brayden Schenn scores his first career hat trick to lead the Flyers to a 5-3 win over Calgary as the team celebrates their Hall of Fame Night, inducting defenseman Jimmy Watson in a pre game ceremony.

MAR. 15 vs. Detroit Red Wings: Michael Raffl goes around a Detroit defenseman, Kyle Quincy, and makes a great move to give the Flyers the opening goal and lead in an important game vs. Detroit in mid-March, which they went on to win, 4-3.
