Overview:
Nicholas Petrecki certainly has the size to become a National Hockey League defenseman. At 6’3’’ and 213 pounds, Petrecki plays with a mean streak while maintaining responsibility in his own end. He also has an ability to land thundering checks on his opponents, and has good speed and passing ability. Elements of his game that could use improvement include his decision making and discipline.

After one year of turning heads in the USHL, Petrecki, who is ranked 21st on Central Scouting’s rankings of North American skaters, will attend Boston College in the fall.

Petrecki was named USHL Defensive Player of the Week on January 2, 2007 and again on March 19; and finished fourth among USHL defensemen with 11 goals in 2006-07 and was sixth in plus minus (+17).

The Flyers say…
“He’s a big, stay-at-home defenseman. He makes the simple play, and is a one-pass guy who moves really well and is not afraid to get involved physically.”
– Director of Hockey Operations Chris Pryor
