10 To Watch At Rookie Camp

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers
With Rookie Camp set to begin on Monday, fans coming out to the Skate Zone will see a difference in the level of play than in the development camp they saw during the summer. Every player taking part will have to work and play at a high level to make an impression and earn their ice-time.

PhiladelphiaFlyers.com takes a look at 10 rookies to keep an eye at this year’s camp…
* in alphabetical order

NICOLAS AUBE-KUBEL (RW)

Like many players you will find on this list, Aube-Kubel is coming into his second pro camp. Last season, he appeared in one preseason game for the Flyers before returning to Val d’Or where he received first-line minutes and an increased role.

Aube-Kubel is one of the more highly skilled wingers the Flyers have in the system so fans coming out to camp will get to see him at high speed against a tough squad of rookie defensemen.

Prior to arriving at camp, he posted three goals and four points in just two preseason games with Val d’Or.

COLE BARDREAU

Cole Bardreau overcame a serious, career-threatening injury while at Cornell. As a result of his determination and hard-work, he returned, finished off a four-year career with the Big Red and earned himself an NHL contract with the Flyers in March.

Bardreau will enter his first pro training camp, but he doesn’t come in without pro experience. The 5-10, 193-lb forward has already played 15 games with the Flyers AHL affiliate in Lehigh Valley towards the end of the last season. He collected a goal and an assist in those 15 outings.

Bardreau also has some familiarity with another Flyers prospect - Shayne Gostisbehere, as the two players earned the gold medal for Team USA at the 2013 World Junior tournament.
