Goal-scoring forward Petr Straka was born June 15, 1992 in Plzen, Czech Republic. Drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second round (55th overall) of the 1990 NHL Draft, he went unsigned. After a big "overager" season for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Baie Comeau Drakkar in 2012-13, Straka was signed as a free agent by the Flyers on April 11, 2013.
Straka spent most of the next three seasons in the American Hockey League with the Adirondack/ Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He earned a three-game NHL callup to the Flyers during the 2014-15 season, notching a pair assists. During the 2015-16 season with the Phantoms, Straka was among the AHL goal-scoring leaders in the first half of the season but injuries limited him to 64 games (19 goals, 37 points, 25 penalty minutes).
Straka re-signed with the Flyers as a restricted free agent during the 2016 offseason.
