Defenseman Jamie Fritsch was born on February 25, 1985 in Odenton, Maryland. The Flyers signed him as a free agent to an amateur tryout contract on April 12, 2009 and dressed the graduating University of New Hampshire defenseman in one game under emergency conditions due to injuries and salary cap limitations.
Fritsch dressed in the Flyers' home game later that night against the New York Rangers. He skated 4:34 of ice time over nine shifts, with one credited hit and was plus-one in a 4-3 loss.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound defenseman's one game with the Flyers was his only day in the organization and lone appearance in the National Hockey League. However, he subsequently played in the AHL and ECHL in North America and later went overseas to play in Italy for Milano and in the United Kingdom for the Scotland-based Braehead Clan.
