The Americans were eliminated after they were shutout by the Finns in their quarter-final tilt on Thursday. The USA outshot Finland 26-20 but could not solve netminder Harri Sateri.
Mikko Rantanen and Joonas Kemppainen scored for the Finns. Anders Lee led the Americans with seven shots on net.
Gaudreau ends the tournament with six goals and 11 points in eight games, which led all American skaters.
CANADA 2, GERMANY 1
Johnson backed up Calvin Pickard in Thursday's quarter-final against Germany. Johnson has a 3-0 record with a 1.33 GAA and a .917 save percentage at the tournament.
Mark Scheifele and Jeff Skinner scored for Canada while Germany received its lone goal from Yannic Seidenberg. Pickard made 19 saves and German netminder Philipp Grubauer was credited with 48 stops.
Canada will face Russia in Saturday's semi-final.
