The Flames have two players participating in the 2017 IIHF World Championship with Johnny Gaudreau representing the USA and Chad Johnson playing for Canada. The USA played their fourth game at the annual tournament on Wednesday, May 10.

Gaudreau had one assist in the USA's 3-0 win over Italy. The winger now has three goals and five points in four skates at the tournament.
Brock Nelson (2) and Anders Lee scored while netminder Jimmy Howard made nine saves in the victory. Italian goaltender Andreas Bernard was credited with 29 saves.
With the win, the USA has a 3-1 record and nine points. They sit second in Group A, one point ahead of Russia.
The USA is back in action on Saturday when they take on Latvia, who currently lead Group A with a 3-0 record.
