Hamilton brothers could team up for Flames

CALGARY -- Defenseman Dougie Hamilton and forward Freddie Hamilton have faced off against each other once in the NHL. The brothers could play on the same team for the first time in the NHL when the Calgary Flames host the Winnipeg Jets at Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday.
Freddie, an emergency recall from Stockton of the American Hockey League on Wednesday, could be in the lineup with forward Sean Monahan a game-time decision.

"It's a pretty weird feeling," Dougie said. "It's something that we've thought about for a long time and pictured happening and dreamt about, so it's pretty cool. To be in the same room right now and on the ice together again, it's a lot of fun."
The brothers played in juniors together from 2009-2012 with Niagara of the Ontario Hockey League, and in 2012 in Calgary became the first brothers to represent Canada at the World Junior Championship since Randy Moller and Mike Moller in 1982.
"We've been dreaming about this since we were little kids," Freddie said. "We were very fortunate to play juniors together and obviously that World Juniors here was the best experience for us so far in hockey and this will be pretty awesome too. We'll see what happens. We're both very excited for the chance and we'll see how it goes."
Freddie has 16 goals and 35 points in 53 games in Stockton of the American Hockey League this season, and has one goal in 29 career NHL games with the San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche.
He was acquired by Calgary from the Avalanche on Oct. 4, 2015 in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.
"He's a complete player, knows all three zones, and good all around," Dougie said. "I'm not going to pump him up too much, but he's going to be fine. He's played a bunch of games in the NHL. It's going to be fun to play together and be in these jerseys together."
The Flames are evaluating players currently dealing with minor injuries, including Monahan, who has an undisclosed injury.
"Freddie will be a game-time decision because we have a few guys playing with bumps and bruises," Flames coach Bob Hartley said. "We have to check with the medical staff this afternoon and we'll have a decision be game time. [Monahan's] one of our game-time decisions."
Winnipeg defenseman Dustin Byfuglien, who missed a 5-2 road win against the Vancouver Canucks on Monday because of the flu, could return for the Jets.
"We're hopeful of that," Jets coach Paul Maurice said. "We've had a couple setbacks in the last little while where a guy felt good and kind of relapsed. If he feels as good tonight as he did this morning he'll be a player for us."
