Portland swept Kelowna in the first round

Winterhawks blueliner Tyler Wotherspoon's first round of the WHL playoffs was an offensive success, bringing him just two goals and two points short of his 2010-11 postseason totals - when he played 20 games. In four games against the Rockets, Wotherspoon potted one goal and two points while posting a plus-six rating. The 6-foot-2, 203 lbs. Surrey, BC product was also incredibly disciplined in the first round, not taking a single penalty.

The defenceman's 2011-12 regular season was also a great success as he set new career highs in all offensive categories while improving upon his defensive play. Wotherspoon scored seven goals and recored 28 points through 67 games. The Winterhawks used him on their power play and two of his markers came with the man advantage. He was a plus-18 on the year and sat in the sin bin for 42 minutes.

Wotherspoon was the Flames second round selection (57th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
