WHL Championship to be broadcast on Shaw

CALGARY, AB -- WHL Commissioner Ron Robison and SHAW Communications announced today that all games during the 2012 WHL Championship Series between the Husky WHL Eastern Conference Champion Edmonton Oil Kings and the Kal Tire WHL Western Conference Champion Portland Winterhawks will be televised LIVE on SHAW and SHAW Direct ‘Channel 299’ throughout Western Canada. All games will also be available in High Definition in most areas on channel 303 on your Shaw cable box.

During the WHL Championship series the WHL on SHAW will feature the play-by-play of Dan Russell, analysis from Bill Wilms as well as Peter Loubardias serving as rink-side host and analyst. SHAW’s WHL Central and host Andy Neal will continue to provide exclusive features, news and highlights throughout the Championship Series.

The WHL is also pleased to announce that SHAW TV will broadcast a special presentation of the 2012 WHL Awards prior to game two of the 2012 WHL Championship Series on Friday, May 4th at 6:00 pm MT. The program will feature footage from the WHL Awards Luncheon and exclusive one-on-one interviews with each award winner.

The following is the schedule for the WHL on SHAW broadcasts of the Edmonton Oil Kings – Portland Winterhawks best-of-seven 2012 WHL Championship Series:

The QMJHL and the City of Shawinigan, QC will serve as the official hosts for the 2012 MasterCard Memorial Cup. The Shawinigan Cataractes will host the WHL Champions, Ontario Hockey League Champions and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Champions from May 18 – 27, 2012.
