Calgary, AB – Ian White and the Calgary Flames announced today a new community program in partnership with the Canadian Forces called White’s Heroes. This program will host guests from the Canadian Forces to all Flames home games this season.
“This is something that I feel strongly about supporting,” says Ian White.” I am so appreciative of all that the Canadian Forces personnel sacrifice. It’s important to reward their services and giving back in this capacity is a small gesture that I am honoured to do.”
The Flames defenceman has purchased two tickets to every Flames regular season home game during the 2010-2011 season. As part of the commitment White will also meet his Canadian Forces guests post-game.
"I would like to thank Ian White and the entire Calgary Flames organization for honouring the men and women of your Canadian Forces," said General Walter Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff. “It means so much to all of us that someone like Ian would make this effort to recognize the work the Canadian Forces do every day on behalf of all Canadians."
All Flames players continue to be actively involved in team fundraisers and community programs. These include Pond Hockey by Enmax Energy, Flames Ambassador Celebrity Charity Poker Tournament, Danone SuperSkills, Alberta Children Hospital wheelchair hockey and Christmas visits and various charitable and community appearances through the Flames Foundation for Life and Community Relations programming.
