Two Flames off to all-star games

The American Hockey League and East Coast Hockey League announced their 2010 All-Star line-ups and Calgary Flames’ prospects Jason Jaffray (AHL) and David Shantz (ECHL) were both named to their respective leagues All-star teams.

Jason Jaffray will be suiting up for the Canadian side at the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic in Portland Maine on January 19, 2010. This will be Jaffray’s second appearance at the AHL All-Star game having represented the Canadian team at the 2007 event.
Jaffray was recently recalled to join the Calgary Flames on a two game road trip in Nashville and Minnesota where he played his second and third games of the season in the NHL. He currently leads the Abbotsford Heat in all offensive categories with 13 goals including five power play and three shorthanded goals along with 17 assists for 30 points in 38 games and a +11 rating.
David Shantz has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for December 28th through January 3rd. Shantz, playing with the Victoria Salmon Kings this season, first earned the honor claiming the award the week of December 14th through December 20th. Additionally, Shantz has been selected as the starting goaltender for the National Conference at the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game in Ontario, California on January 20, 2010.
This is the third time a Salmon Kings’ goaltender has won the award this season. Along with Shantz being named twice, another Flames prospect, Matt Keetley, was also honored as the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for November 9th through 15th. It is Shantz’s second All-Star Game selection after representing the Florida Everblades in the 2007 contest.
