CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames are pleased to host Canadian Forces Appreciation Night taking place on Monday, April 15th at the Scotiabank Saddledome when the Flames take on the Minnesota Wild.
For the seventh consecutive year, the Flames will welcome over 400 Canadian Armed Forces members, family members and veterans to the game which will honour them for their services with the Canadian Military.
"It is wonderful that the Calgary Flames and their fans are continuing the tradition of showing their support for the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces in Western Canada," said General Tom Lawson, the Chief of the Defence Staff. "On behalf of all our sailors, soldiers, airmen and airwomen who are serving Canada across our great country and around the world, I would like to thank everyone in Calgary for their outstanding and heartfelt support."
A Ceremonial Puck Drop will take place with Brigadier General Juneau, Chief Warrant Officer Scheidl, and one deserving member, along with long-time Scotiabank Saddledome employee & Korean War Veteran - Wally Kosowan.
“Support Our Troops” merchandise will be on-sale on the concourse in section 223 & The Avison Young Club Entrance. The Flames will also be selling commemorative Calgary Flames Military Caps with all proceeds to be directed to “Support Our Troops”.
The Flames Foundation for Life will donate a portion of the proceeds from the evening’s 50/50 sales to the Military Families Fund
Following the conclusion of the game, uniformed military personnel will be welcomed onto the ice where they will receive the opportunity to have a post-game group photo with the Calgary Flames.
In addition, most in-game elements will have a distinct Canadian Armed Forces tie-in and all parking fees will be waived for military members who are in uniform.
