Milwaukee, WI – Center Andrei Taratukhin assisted on both Ak-Sar-Ben Knights’ goals as Omaha beat the Milwaukee Admirals 2-1 on Saturday night at the Bradley Center.

The Knights have now won a franchise record eight straight games.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights forged ahead just past the halfway mark of the first period.  Brandon Prust fed Taratukhin who carried the puck into the Admirals’ zone and slipped it to Derek Couture who snapped the puck just under the crossbar.  It was Couture’s first goal of the season.

The second period featured little in the way of highlights.  The two teams combined for just eight shots on goal.  But the Knights found the net with one of them.  Taratukhin carried the puck down the right wing, waited for a Milwaukee defenseman to slide by before feeding Cam Cunning.  He fired a shot over goalie Scott Reid to make it 2-0.  It was Cunning’s fourth goal of the year.

Milwaukee got some life in the third period when Brandon Segal scored on the powerplay to make it 2-1.  But the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights got several big saves from Curtis McElhinney the rest of the way to preserve the win, their second in as many games against the Admirals.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights are now 8-0-1-0, good for a three point lead in the West Division standings over Iowa.

Three Stars:  1. Curtis McElhinney (OMA)—21 saves; 2. Andrei Taratukhin (OMA)—2 assists; 3. Brandon Segal (MIL)—1 goal
