Sportsnet to broadcast 40 Flames games

CALGARY – Calgary Flames fans will see plenty of action on television for the 2006-07 season.

Rogers Sportsnet is pleased to announce it has reached a multi-year agreement with the Calgary Flames to continue as the home of more Flames game than any other broadcaster in Canada.

Sportsnet will televise 40 Flames games this season on Sportsnet West beginning Thanksgiving Day, Monday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. when Calgary hosts the West Division semifinalist San Jose Sharks at Pengrowth Saddledome.

"We''ve been partners with the Flames since Sportsnet launched back in 1998, and we''re thrilled to extend and strengthen that relationship with the new agreement," said Doug Beeforth, President of Rogers Sportsnet.

"We are pleased to provide our fans with increased broadcast coverage of our games on Sportsnet during the 2006-2007 season," said Flames President & CEO Ken King.

"From the outset we have promised increased television exposure for our fans and I''m pleased that Sportsnet has worked so diligently with us to enhance our regional television package. We are excited to be able to deliver 40 games."

There will also be 16 Flames games on CBC and five on TSN as well as an as-yet unannounced Pay-Per-View schedule.

The 2006-07 Telus Flames schedule features three all-Canadian match-ups against Northwest rivals:

Vancouver @ Calgary, December 26 @ 7 p.m.;
Edmonton @ Calgary, Dec.31 @ 6 p.m;
Vancouver @ Calgary, January 2 @ 7 p.m.

The Flames will face Northwest rivals Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche four times each on Sportsnet West, while Central Division champions Detroit Red Wings appear on the regional schedule three times.
