Social Buzz: Sam-sational

by Torie Peterson / Calgary Flames

How about 19-year-old Sam Bennett?

After going 18 games without a goal, the Flames rookie broke out of his slump in a big way this past week.

It started with his power play goal against the San Jose Sharks on Monday.

But it was Bennett's historic performance against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday that had Twitter buzzing.

A four-goal night will do that, we suppose.

Bennett finished off the week by scoring his sixth goal in three games in the Flames 2-1 shootout setback to the Oilers.

This week, Calgary alumnus Robyn Regehr signed a ceremonial agreement to officially retire as a Flame! The rugged defenceman played 826 games in a Flames jersey, was an alternate captain for seven seasons in Calgary, represented Calgary internationally at the World Junior Championship (1999), two World Championships (2000, 2005), the World Cup of Hockey (2004) and the Olympic Winter Games (2006).

We asked fans to submit their favourite Regehr memories and as expected, there were plenty of responses that included his teeth-rattling hits on former Oiler Ales Hemsky!
