Several 2015 draft-eligible players on Sweden, Finland WJC evaluation rosters

CALGARY, AB -- Several 2015 draft-eligible players will be attending Finland and Sweden's World Junior Championship evaluation camps this summer.

Of note in the draft-eligible group are JYP defenceman Sami Niku (Finland) and TPS forward Mikko Rantanen (Finland). Both are first-year eligibles and Rantanen is 10th on the ISS' preliminary 2015 rankings.

Niku spent the 2013-14 season with JYP U20 (Jr. A SM-liiga) and JYP-Akatemia (Mestis). With JYP U20, he scored four goals and 14 points in 20 games. With JYP-Akatemia, he amassed three assists in 30 outings.

Rantanen spent 37 games with TPS last season, scoring five goals and nine points. He also dressed for 17 games with TPS U20, notching five goals and 18 points.

The 2015 WJC will be held Dec. 26 to Jan. 5, 2015 in Toronto and Montreal. Finland is in Group A with Canada, the U.S., Slovakia and Germany, and will play its preliminary-round games at Bell Centre in Montreal.

Sweden is in Group B along with the Czech Republic, Denmark, Russia and Switzerland, and will play its preliminary-round games at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

The semifinals and the bronze- and gold-medal games will be played in Toronto.
