GEOFF WARD ON HOW THE FIRST PRACTICE WENT:

WARD ON HIS GOALS FOR TRAINING CAMP:

"We're going to do an awful lot of review in terms of the structure of our game. ... Then, make sure that all the guys are on the same page at the end of camp and there are no grey areas going into that first game against Winnipeg. I thought the guys did a really good job in terms of their communication, their body position, their sticks and their compete."

JOHNNY GAUDREAU ON THE NEW SEASON:

"I'm always excited to come back here and get the season started and see all the guys that we played with last year. We have a lot of new faces, too, so you try to get to know them and build a relationship with those guys. It's a new season, it's a great time to be back in Calgary and we're all excited to get going here."

"I'm always excited to come back here"

GAUDREAU ON LEARNING FROM LAST YEAR:

"The core group of guys here, we've been there three or four times and haven't gotten to the place that we want to be; it's an achievement to get there in the first place, but we've learned a few times now how difficult is to win in the playoffs. That's something that we try to learn from every year, and it doesn't sit well with you in the off-season. But we're excited to be back and are looking forward to trying to get back there and try to prove some people wrong."

WARD ON GAUDREAU:

"He came in and was flying when he got here. He was smiling when he got to the rink and he was excellent today. He looks like he's playing with a way looser body posture. I don't think there's any hangover in terms of worrying about last season. He looks refreshed and ready to go and that's a good thing for us. I think his body language is right. What he was doing on the ice today, I thought he was really dynamic; made some great plays with the puck and scored some goals. I think he's in a really great place now and we're going to take it a day at a time."

"It's been fun playing with him the last few weeks"

CHRIS TANEV ON BEING PAIRED WITH GIORDANO:

"I've played against Gio for quite some time now and obviously he's a hell of a player. He moves the puck well, has a great shot, plays good defence and contributes offensively. He does everything and it's been fun skating with him the last few weeks. … Obviously, it's going to take some actual games to development more (chemistry), but from practicing and skating together, you can see how good of a stick he has, how well he communicates, and I think we work off each other well. As we get into more games and scrimmages, that will only get better."

"I was really impressed"

DILLON DUBE ON BUILDING OFF THE PLAYOFFS:

"I feel good. I'm around the same weight. I had a hard summer. Ten games in 10 months, or whatever it is, is not a lot, so there's been a lot more training than playing. But I actually think that's a big advantage for someone my age. I feel a little more explosive out there. Every day, I've added more pieces to my game to help me get to where I want to be. I think I've been able to do that over the two stints that we've had with the COVID pandemic."

JUUSO VALIMAKI ON BEING BACK HEALTHY:

"I want to prove to myself and prove everyone that I belong in the league and that I can help this team win."

"I got a little head start playing games"
