SAY WHAT: ITCHIN' TO PLAY

A rundown of what was discussed following Tuesday's practice at the 'Dome

by RYAN DITTRICK @ryandittrick / CalgaryFlames.com

BILL PETERS ON PREPARING FOR THE AVS:

"The guys were great. We had a good meeting here today and we went over some tendencies that we're going to see when we play Colorado. Just talked about how we're going to approach the next two weeks, really. Guys are excited about the opportunity in front of them and the fact that it's getting closer."

PETERS ON PLAYOFF 'PRESSURE':

"I don't know where the pressure's coming from. We don't feel the pressure, if there is any. We see it as an opportunity. To play in the post-season is exciting. ... The clock's ticking. You want to win. You want to get deep in the playoffs and you want to win a Stanley Cup at some point in your career, so why not try and get it done as soon as you can, which is now? The opportunity is right there in front of us."

Video: "Huge. Very, very important."

PETERS ON GARNET HATHAWAY'S DEVELOPMENT:

"He's a young guy, came out of college, did it the hard way. He signed as an undrafted free agent and keeps getting better and better every year and has good summers, which is important for him. What kept him in the lineup when it was a little dicey there, when he could come out or not, was his penalty-kill ability. Then all of a sudden, the line gets a little bit of momentum and you can't take him out. ... He's a big part of it, too. We're comfortable playing that line against anybody."

HATHAWAY ON FOCUS FOR HIS LINE:

"We can't go out and change everything we do. With our line and our team, we've got to do what got us here. For us, it's the hard work, getting pucks in and out-working guys. It's managing the puck, too, making smart plays. I think that amplifies a bit in the playoffs, so you've got to be on - always be on - whether it's a face-off, a back-check or a line change, you've got to be ready to go."

Video: "We're pretty excited but you've got to manage it."

ELIAS LINDHOLM ON THE POWERPLAY:

"We know it's going to be a tough series and we know what kind of a difference the powerplay can make. Our powerplay needs to step it up. ... We haven't been that good [lately]. If you get a couple powerplays, start feeling it, score a couple goals, you can get back in a game, or the game could be over. We know how big it is and we've been talking about it a lot, so we'll be ready for Thursday."

Video: "Try to learn as much as possible."

DEREK RYAN ON WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE AVS:

"I like to dive into it pretty good, especially in terms of faceoffs, their structure, what they're doing, I like to know a lot about that. But I've also said it a lot this year that what they're doing doesn't really matter. It matters how we're playing, the structure in our game, the work ethic and our details."

Video: "It's nice to prepare for a couple of days."

JOHNNY GAUDREAU ON PEAKING AT THE RIGHT TIME:

"We did a good job toward the end of the season, fought through a little stretch where we weren't playing our best hockey and had a great finish to the year. We're excited to get the playoffs going."

Video: "A lot of excitement, you're itching to get there."
