SAY WHAT: 'IT GAVE ME CHILLS'

A rundown of what was discussed ahead of Game 2 vs. Avs

by RYAN DITTRICK @ryandittrick / CalgaryFlames.com

NOAH HANIFIN ON ATMOSPHERE IN THE 'DOME:

"The guys were telling me that the C of Red in the playoffs is pretty special. I was excited to see what it was all about. Even before the game, before the anthems, hearing the 'Go Flames Go!' chant was super cool, it gave me chills, and made for a great atmosphere to play in."

NOAH HANIFIN ON IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICALITY:

"It's huge. It gets the guys going when you see someone like Johnny going out there and laying some hits. It's important. You've got to do the little things to win a playoff series, and not giving guys time, space and room out there is huge. I think even the little hits out there, it builds up and it matters."

MARK GIORDANO ON PERFECT PK IN GAME 1:

"They have a really good powerplay. They generated some shots, some looks and some momentum, and then we got back to it in the third, especially. I thought we played a good game. At the right moments we made the right plays, so we've got to build off that because we know we can be even better."

Video: "We want to protect home-ice obviously"

MIKE SMITH ON DEFENDING HOME ICE:

"I think we feel we didn't play our best game in Game 1, either, so we want to be better. We know that they're going to be a desperate team, too, because they want to split the series and go home feeling good about themselves. We can control what we can control, and we definitely want to have a good start again tonight, and keep this thing rolling."

ELIAS LINDHOLM ON LAYING THE BODY:

"The crowd was going. I saw someone throw a hit and the crowd was going, so I thought like, why wouldn't I try to get the crowd going?"

BILL PETERS ON LINDHOLM'S PHYSICAL PLAY:

"He's the Beast for a reason. The Swedish Beast. He plays hard. He's got a little dirt in his pocket. He likes it. He's a gamer. We've got lots of guys that relish that type of game. We've always responded, I think, this year, when games get a little greasy, we're right there."

Video: "I expect us to be better"

PETERS ON EXPECTATIONS FOR TONIGHT:

"I expect us to be better. I expect our execution to be a little better, I expect us to get the puck to the net more and play a little faster across the board. We hadn't played in a couple days and now I think you're going to see the rhythm of the series, playing every other day. I think that's going to help both teams."
