MARTIN GELINAS ON PLAYING WITH IGINLA IN '04 FINAL

GIORDANO'S FAVOURITE IGGY MOMENT

"His goal against Minny when he got his 500th. It was a big moment for him. There are so many. He was such a big-game player. Big moments, he'd always score the big goal for us all the time. It's nice to see him coming back and getting recognized."

GIORDANO ON WHAT HE LEARNED FROM NO. 12

"I just watched him and his daily routines and how he treated his body on and off the ice. He took care of himself. But the thing I took away from him was how competitive he was. ... He was competitive and that drive, day in and day out. He's one of the best to play in the game. It's nice to have him back here to celebrate him."

MIKAEL BACKLUND ON MEETING IGGY

"He took great care of me when I first came into the league. I remember early on in my first few games, I got to sit beside him. Even in my first camp, I got to sit beside him, too, and he was so nice to me and took great care of me. I'm thankful for all he did for me, and for the organization and for the city. … I was star-struck for sure. I watched a lot of highlights before making this team. ... When I was drafted to Calgary, he was the big guy that everybody knew about. I was very excited to get the chance to play with him."

MATTHEW TKACHUK ON IGINLA'S LAST GAME IN CALGARY

"Those guys were like heroes. I had the honour to play against him, two years ago, my first year. I think he actually tried to fight me one game, so that's a cool memory to have. I remember his last game in Calgary. He put on a show here. I remember him coming out and giving the fans a salute after. Just to see how much he means to this city and how much he means to this team, it's cool to see. As players on the team now, we're following in his footsteps. ... The way he's led and had an impact on guys like Gio, and it trickles down to guys like us. It all started with guys like him."

BILL PETERS ON COACHING AGAINST IGGY

"He was a guy you had to game-plan for. Just the shot on the powerplay, you really had to be concerned about (it). You had to know where he was. … He didn't need much time to get it off and he could score from a distance. … He lit us up once and I heard about it. He got two in Detroit and I remember it real well. One was on a play that we kind of covered but didn't execute well. Good player making a good play. It was a tough one. They won, too. That was the worst part."
