SAY WHAT - GAME 3 CHATTER

From a change on the blueline to the team's mindset, a look at what was discussed at the morning skate

by TORIE PETERSON @ToriePeterson / CalgaryFlames.com

RASMUS ANDERSSON ON PAIRING WITH GIORDANO:

"We've played together before and it's always fun. He's such a good player. You give the puck to him a little bit extra because he is who he is. You really enjoy it when you play with him."

ANDERSSON ON TEAM SPEED:

"Playing fast means that you try to get the puck up to the forwards as quick as possible, try to catch them on changes, just move the puck, join the rush, and be active, really. We have a lot of good skaters on our team and it starts with the back-end: if we play play fast, our forwards will get the puck in their hands and go to work."

ANDERSSON ON DICTATING THE PLAY:

"You want to play in the offensive zone, that's the fun zone. That starts with playing fast. If we play fast, we can catch them a little bit and we can work their D, get our forecheck going and when we do that, we're a really good team."

TYSON BARRIE ON CALE MAKAR'S DEBUT:

"I'm excited to get him. I think if you can add what looks like a top-four, top-two, top-one defenceman mid-way playoffs, it's going to do nothing but help your team. He's obviously going to have a bit of nerves tonight but he looks dynamite."

GIORDANO ON TEAM'S MINDSET:

"We've got to do a better job of not letting them get speed through the neutral (zone). As d-men, we've got to get up, get good gaps, get in their face, and not give them time and space. I think last game, there was a little bit too much space for them and tonight, we'll close that down."

Video: "We have to get back to our game."

GIORDANO ON PLAYING WITH ANDERSSON:

"I think we read off each other well. We have a similar style of game: try to move the puck, get in the play. We'll use each other as much as we can. With a lot of talk, we'll be fine."

SEAN MONAHAN ON PUCK POSSESSION:

"I think the big thing is, for ourselves, is holding pucks in the offensive zone. When you're heavy with the puck and cycling around and getting chances like that, that sets up the next shift for the next line coming out. That's what we've got to be better at as a team and as a line. We've got to be ready to do that tonight."

ERIK JOHNSON ON ADDITION OF MAKAR:

"I've played with (Girard) all 82 this year so that will be weird but Tyson and (Zadorov) will stay together so we've kind of got an offensive guy and a defensive guy on every pairing so I think from that sense it will be good. Cale should add another element to our offence. But it will be different having some new pairings. We practice with each other all year so it's still the righty-lefty combinations and we should be fine."
