Sarich, Flames get holiday gift assist

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames are proud to announce that the 13th annual Gifts for Kids toy drive, in support of the United Way of Calgary and Area, brought in over 15,000 toys.

Cory Sarich with some help from his teammates assisted in making this program so successful by donating over $22,000, towards making holiday dreams come true for kids in Calgary. Cory Sarich signed on to be Gifts for Kids spokesperson in hopes of raising the awareness and success of the campaign.

Gifts for Kids volunteers collected new, unwrapped presents for kids aged infant to 18-years-old at Market Mall’s Bay Court. These gifts were distributed to agencies that then redistribute them via hampers and parties to clients who celebrate a variety of religious and holiday events.

The Calgary Flames have been a partner of Gifts for Kids for 3 seasons now and want to thank Calgary for their support of such a wonderful cause at this special time of year.

The Flames Foundation for Life is the charitable arm of the Calgary Flames through which more than 29 million dollars in funding has already been directed to education, health, medical research, amateur sport and recreation.  The Calgary Flames have extended their commitment to the community through an exciting partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Calgary known as the “Rotary/Flames Gift to the Community” - a $10 million donation to the community over the next five years!
