(TSX: RON), the largest Canadian distributor and retailer of hardware, home renovation and gardening products, today announced its new three-year partnership with the Calgary Flames Hockey Club at a community tailgate party hosted at the RONA northeast store located at 2665 – 32nd Street N.E.
RONA is now the Official Home Improvement Retailer of the Calgary Flames Hockey Club and the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL (Western Hockey League). To mark the occasion, Craig Conroy and Mikael Backlund
of The Flames—as well as the teams’ mascot—were at the event to greet the public and sign autographs.
This exclusive partnership includes permanent, camera-visible RONA branding at the teams’ home games at the Saddledome, including two in-ice logos as well as signage behind the board on the home net side. Additionnaly, a visible patch will be added to all Calgary Flames practice jerseys, a brand new initiative to the NHL this year. Part of the RONA network, TOTEM Building Supplies, a genuine Alberta company, will also share in some visibility on the board and within the arena.
Today’s partnership announcement also marks the beginning of RONA’s community-building initiative with the Calgary Flames. RONA President and CEO Robert Dutton and Calgary Flames President and CEO Ken King, announced that collectively RONA and the Flames will explore creative ideas that will include renovating community youth facilities. Our hope would be to start a project early in 2011, RONA will contribute labour, materials and expertise to every project selected.
