Calgary, AB – Robyn Regehr announced today a new initiative he has committed to in partnership with Impact Society; Impact on Ice. Every hit Regehr makes during the Flames regular season he will donate $75 to the HEROES program through Impact Society. Regehr's donations will be matched by Calgary-based oil and gas services technology company, Packers Plus Energy Services Inc.
Impact Society is one of Canada’s national centres of excellence for strength-based community development. The organization offers the first and only nation-wide experiential-learning program that turns teachers, students, parents, even whole companies and other partners into everyday HEROES.
Through Impact Society the HEROES program is a national program that helps youth deal with the trials and tribulations of growing up.
The national expansion of the HEROES program, launched today, will give teachers and students in every Canadian province access to a unique and effective learning program – delivered through an interactive classroom experience - that has been proven to help youth make better choices.
“I am honoured to be a part of this program and do what I can to contribute,” says Flames assistant captain Robyn Regehr. “Funding that I can contribute will help over 30,000 students in Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan.”
The program also develops healthy behaviours in youth such as self-discipline and empathy, leading to improved school performance and family communication. It can also lead to a reduction in crime and property damage, suicides, and drug and alcohol use.
Robyn and his wife Kristina are Honourary Co-Chairs of the Impact Fund Development Committee. “Both Robyn and Kristina care deeply about making a difference in our communities and we are privileged to have their support of HEROES across Canada and Impact Society in general,” says Jack Toth, Impact Society CEO.
Kristina will also be completing the HEROES Volunteer Instructor training program this fall and plans to begin instructing as soon as possible following the completion. Regehr’s total hits and donations will be updated after each game on the community page of the Flames website.
