Rafikov, Russia headed to gold medal game at World Junior Championship

CALGARY, AB -- Rushan Rafikov and Russia are headed to the gold medal game at the World Junior Championship after downing Sweden 4-1 in the semi-final on Sunday.

Alexander Sharov (2), Ziat Paigin, and Maxim Mamin scored for Russia while Lucas Wallmark netted Sweden's lone marker.

Russia will face the winner of the Canada-Slovakia semi-final on Monday at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON.

The Flames selected Rafikov in the seventh round (187th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft. He is playing for HK Ryazan in the VHL this season and has 13 assists in 25 games.
