Rafikov captures silver at World Junior Championship

CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames prospect Rushan Rafikov and Russia captured silver at the 2015 World Junior Championship in Toronto.

The Russians fell 5-4 to Canada in the gold medal game.

Anthony Duclair, Nick Paul, Connor McDavid, Max Domi, and Sam Reinhart recorded goals for Canada.

Dmitri Yudin, Ivan Barbashyov, Sergei Tolchinski, and Nikolai Goldobin netted goals for the Russians. Rafikov had three shots on net in the game, all coming in the third period.

In seven games at the tournament, Rafikov had one goal and three points. The Flames selected the defenceman in the seventh round (187th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft. He is playing for HK Ryazan in the VHL this season and has 13 assists in 25 games.
