A rundown of what was said at this morning's media availability

by TORIE PETERSON @ToriePeterson /

On facing Detroit and a handful of Eastern Conference teams in upcoming games:

"Knowing we have three Eastern clubs coming in here, we talked about the speed. We watched Detroit - the tempo, how many pucks they put at the net - and what we talked about this morning is … they have some world class players on this team. This is a very proud group who has been in the playoffs lots of years. Some of the pressure might be off them a little bit now, I don't know what. But watching their last game, it was very fast, lots of pucks at the net, making plays, good in the circle. We've got to be prepared for that and we talked about it this morning." - Glen Gulutzan

"Whether we're playing Eastern or Western teams, we can afford to go to overtime and give up the single but we'd like the two points every night - especially against Eastern Conference teams. That's the only difference, when you look at it. But I think … there's differences in styles of play and I think a lot of the Eastern teams play a high-tempo, high-speed game and we've got to be aware of that." - Mark Giordano

On Henrik Zetterberg's lengthy career:

"48 points still this year. He's a player that when I came into the league and still now, I watch play just to enjoy the subtleties of the game, his hockey IQ, the way he uses his body to protect the puck, the way he plays the game. He's just a real polished player that guys can learn from. He's one of the guys that six years ago, I watched a lot of video and showed to some of the young players in Dallas when we were trying to develop our young players there as centremen, showing them stuff from Henrik." - Glen Gulutzan

On the push for a Pacific Division playoff spot:

"I know from hearing from everybody around the city how exciting and fun it is in playoffs. I like those games, I like those tight games, I like the games where there's a lot of energy and a lot on the line. I want to make the playoffs more than anything." - Matthew Tkachuk

"This time of the year, you play hockey to play these types of games. Obviously we'd like to be higher in the standings but that's not the case. We're doing everything we can to push and to keep growing as a team." - Sean Monahan

"You're looking at what's ahead of you, too, and trying to leapfrog teams that are in front of you and make them nervous." - Michael Stone

On the atmosphere in the locker room:

"Our belief has changed a lot. At the start of the year, we'd be winning games and teams would come back and beat us there in the third but right now, we're playing a complete 60 and the belief in the room is huge." - Sean Monahan
