CALGARY, AB -- Sam Bennett kicked off his 2014-15 season with the Kingston Frontenacs by scoring a goal and four points in his first three games of the year.
This week? He registered seven points in a trio of games, pushing his season total to 11 points in six outings.
The 18-year-old kicked off the week with a two-goal performance in Kingston's 4-1 victory over the Mississauga Steelheads on Wednesday. Bennett opened up the scoring in the first period with a power play marker and netted the game-winning tally three minutes later. He was named the game's second star for his efforts.
On Friday, Bennett scored a late goal and assisted on Evan McEneny's third period power play goal in a 4-2 win over Peterborough Petes.
The Flames' 2014 first round pick capped off the week by amassing three points in the Frontenacs' 4-3 win over the London Knights. Bennett had a pair of assists, scored Kingston's third goal, and was the first star of the game.
Since Bennett joined the Frontenacs, they've won five of their last six games and moved into sixth place in the OHL's Eastern Conference. They currently hold a five-point lead over the seventh-place Belleville Bulls.
“I think everyone is finding their step. The boys are feeling really good and really confident going into our last seven games,” Bennett told KingstonFrontenacs.com.
