CALGARY, AB -- After a rocky start to the 2014-15 season, Joni Ortio has found his groove in the Adirondack Flames' net.
Ortio has five wins in six appearances in the month of November and last week, he allowed just one goal in a pair of games at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
The Turku, FIN product registered his first shutout of the season on Nov. 18, making 28 saves on-route to a 3-0 Adirondack win over the Chicago Wolves. Ortio was named the first star of the game for his efforts.
Last Friday, the 23-year-old made 26 saves on 27 shots in the Flames 4-1 victory over the Syracuse Crunch and earned third star honours.
Ortio is 8-3-1 this season with a 3.35 GAA and a .898 save percentage. In six games in November, he has a 2.29 GAA and a .927 save percentage.
The netminder was the Flames' sixth round pick in the 2009 NHL Draft.
