CALGARY, AB -- The Providence Friars rely heavily on Calgary Flames prospect Jon Gillies to carry the load in the net and the junior goaltender came up big for his team throughout the month of November.
The Friars went 6-2-0 last month, with Gillies in net for seven of those eight games, and have risen to fourth in Hockey East. Gillies went 5-2-0 in November, allowing just six goals and recording three shutouts.
The South Portland, ME product closed November with back-to-back shutouts and his personal shutout streak sits 161:24.
Gillies holds a 6-5-1 record through 12 games this season. His GAA sits at 1.87 and he holds a .940 save percentage, which is tops in Hockey East.
The 20-year-old was selected by the Flames in the third round (75th overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft.
