PREDATORS (23-18-8) at FLAMES (21-23-3)
TV: SN1, FS-TN (7:30 PM MT)
Season series: Defenceman Kris Russell scored 1:23 into overtime to give the Calgary Flames a 2-1 victory against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Dec. 15. TJ Brodie scored Calgary's goal in regulation. Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne made 19 saves.
Predators team scope: Nashville will try for a sweep of its four-game Canadian road trip after a late goal by James Neal was the difference in a 2-1 victory against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. The Predators have won three in a row for the first time in more than three months. "It was very crucial, not only looking at the standings," Rinne said of the victory, "but crucial mentally and as a team for our confidence and the way you feel about yourself and your game." Goalie Carter Hutton, who shut out the Minnesota Wild 3-0 in his most recent start, could get the call in the second of back-to-back games.
Flames team scope: Calgary spent Tuesday resting up for its final game before the All-Star break after going 1-3-1 on a five-game trip that ended with losses to the Carolina Hurricanes and Dallas Stars on consecutive nights. The Flames spent most of each game playing from behind, something captain Mark Giordano said they can't do if they want to be successful. "We got to start from the get-go next game," he said after the 2-1 loss at Dallas on Monday. "We have one more before the break that we have to have, and then we'll get some rest and go from there."
