Preview: Flames vs. Dinos

by Torie Peterson / Calgary Flames

CALGARY, AB -- For the fourth time in the past five season, Calgary Flames prospects will square off with the University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey team to wrap up rookie camp.

The game will take place at WinSport's Markin MacPhail Centre at 7:00 PM MT. Tickets are $20 and can be bought at the door. The box office opens at 5:00 PM MT.

The Flames recently participated in the Young Stars Classic in Penticton, BC. Andrew Mangiapane, Calgary's sixth round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft, led the team in scoring with one goal and three points in three games. Morgan Klimchuk, drafted in the first round in 2013, led the Flames with two goals in two games.

The Dinos are coming off a strong 2014-15 season which saw them go all the way to the CIS Championship game. They kick off their 2015-16 campaign on Oct. 9 when they host the Saskatchewan Huskies at Max Bell Arena.

"We are excited to have this opportunity again and continue to foster the relationship we have built with the Calgary Flames organization," Dinos head coach Mark Howell said in a press release. "The game will be a fast-paced contest with one of the top teams in CIS against one of the fastest, hardest-working teams in the NHL. It's a great opportunity for us to showcase our brand and style of hockey."

The Dinos and Flames continue a partnership that includes this game, an annual donation from the Flames Foundation that supports both the men's and women's hockey programs, as well as the annual Crowchild Classic event at the Scotiabank Saddledome. This year, the Dinos will take on the Mount Royal Cougars in a double-header at the Saddledome on Thursday, Jan. 21.
