Season Series: Wednesday's game will be the first and only time the Calgary Flames and Arizona Coyotes face off in the pre-season. In the 2015-16 campaign, the Flames went 1-3-1 against the Coyotes. Mark Giordano and Sean Monahan led Calgary in scoring against Arizona last year, with four points each in the five-game season series. On the Coyotes side, Anthony Duclair, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Martin Hanzal, and Shane Doan all recorded five points against the Flames.

Coyotes Team Scope:Arizona is coming off a 4-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Monday at Rogers Arena. Oliver Ekman-Larsson, in his first pre-season game this fall, scored the game-winner for the Coyotes. He is expected to be in the lineup in Calgary. The Coyotes may also have forward Tobias Rieder in their lineup as he signed a two-year deal with the team on Tuesday. He will join the Coyotes in Calgary.
Flames Team Scope: The Flames were blanked 4-0 by the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, bringing their pre-season record to 2-3-0. On Wednesday, they will go with Brian Elliott in net and he will play the entire duration of the game. The 31-year-old, who became a father on Monday when he and his wife Amanda welcomed Owen Daniel Elliot into the world, has appeared in two pre-season games this year. He has made 30 saves on 31 shots, equating to a 0.75 GAA and a .967 save percentage. Defenceman Brett Kulak leads the Flames in scoring in the pre-season with three points in three games. He is expected to be in the lineup against Arizona.
