Preview: Flames vs. Canucks

by Torie Peterson / Calgary Flames

PENTICTON, BC -- The Calgary Flames will close out the 2015 Young Stars Classic on Monday afternoon, taking on the Vancouver Canucks at 4:30 PM MT.

Jon Gillies will get the start in net, likely playing two periods before Nick Schneider, attending camp on an amateur try-out agreement, takes over for the final frame.

Gillies was a standout player for Calgary in their 3-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night, making 25 saves.

The Flames may get winger Morgan Klimchuk and defenceman Oliver Kylington back on Monday afternoon. The pair missed Saturday's game against Edmonton with minor injuries but skated on Sunday.

Both are day-to-day.

"We could see both guys, we could see neither," Stockton Heat head coach Ryan Huska said after the Flames practice on Sunday. "They're both doing well, that's a positive thing."

After playing in the first two games, Sam Bennett will sit out of the final outing of the tournament.

The Flames will also be without rearguard Ryan Culkin, who suffered a shoulder injury in Saturday's setback to the Oilers and will be out for six to eight weeks.

"It's tough for him because he has come back from a pretty significant injury," Huska said, referencing the wrist injury Culkin endured during the 2014-15 season. "Hopefully his recovery this time is towards the six weeks instead of the eight."

Fans can watch the Flames battle the Canucks on CalgaryFlames.com, the Flames app, or the Flames YouTube channel.
