FLAMES (8-13-2) at SHARKS (13-9-0)
TV: CBC, CSN-CA (8:00 PM MT)
Season series: The Calgary Flames went 4-1-0 against the San Jose Sharks last season, including a win in each of three visits to SAP Center. Jiri Hudler led the Flames with five goals and six points. Logan Couture had two goals and four points for the Sharks.
Flames team scope: Calgary will try to avoid going winless on a three-game road trip after a 2-1 overtime loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Friday. Defenceman Mark Giordano had a power-play goal, and Karri Ramo made 19 saves before allowing Oliver Ekman-Larsson's winning goal with 39.9 seconds left in the 3-on-3 overtime. "We had a real strong effort. We played a good game ... 3-on-3, if you don't get on yours, they'll get theirs," coach Bob Hartley said in comments tweeted by the Flames. Ramo has started 12 consecutive games. Jonas Hiller, who hasn't played since Oct. 28, might start in San Jose.
Sharks team scope: San Jose will be without defenceman Justin Braun for a second straight game; he has an infection in his left elbow. It's another opportunity for Matt Tenneyson to show the coaching staff he can be relied on after being benched for most of the final two periods on Wednesday in a 5-2 home loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. "There are only so many opportunities, and you have to take advantage of them," coach Pete DeBoer said Friday, according to the San Jose Mercury News. "Right now, he's going to get another chance to bounce back here, and we're confident in him and his abilities." Center Logan Couture skated for most of practice on Friday; he hasn't played since fracturing his right fibula at the ankle on Oct. 15. Goalie Martin Jones likely will start.
