FLAMES (2-5-0) at RANGERS (5-2-2)
TV: NHLN, TVA Sports, SN, SN1, MSG
Season series: The New York Rangers outscored the Calgary Flames 6-2 in two victories last season. Rick Nash scored twice in the Rangers' 5-2 win at Scotiabank Saddledome on Dec. 17, Cam Talbot made 21 saves in a 1-0 victory at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 24.
Flames team scope: With back-to-back games Sunday and Monday, Calgary did not practice Saturday. The Flames are seeking their second straight win after losing four consecutive games. "A good feeling on the road," captain Mark Giordano said. "That's what we needed." Defenceman Ladislav Smid (neck) played his first game in nine months Friday, a 3-2 overtime win against the Detroit Red Wings, and the hope is TJ Brodie (hand) can return shortly. Brodie made the trip with the Flames to the East Coast. Calgary recalled forward Derek Grant from Stockton of the American Hockey League on Saturday. He had three goals in three AHL games. Grant's arrival likely means Micheal Ferland is unavailable. He sustained a lower-body injury Friday.
Rangers team scope: New York will be without forward Viktor Stalberg, who sustained a head injury in the second period of a 3-2 shootout loss at the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. Stalberg was hit by Flyers defenceman Radko Gudas. "Hopefully, Viktor will be fine soon," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "Obviously, he's going to be out for [Sunday], and we'll see what the League does." Backup goalie Antti Raanta could get his second start in less than a week after Henrik Lundqvist made a season-high 46 saves in Philadelphia. Raanta made 22 saves in a 4-0 win against the San Jose Sharks on Monday in his only start this season.
