SEASON SERIES:Monday's match-up is the second in a three-game season series between the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets. The Flames took the first game by a score of 6-2, with defenceman Dougie Hamilton putting up three points in that victory at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Dec. 10. Sam Bennett, Mikael Backlund, Lance Bouma, and Sean Monahan also found the back of the net and Chad Johnson made 26 saves in that win. The two clubs will wrap up their season set in Winnipeg on Mar. 11.

FLAMES' TEAM SCOPE: On Saturday, the Flames picked up a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks and kept a hold on the first Wildcard spot in the Western Conference. With 46 points on the year, they sit two points ahead of the Los Angeles Kings, who sit in the second Wildcard position, and three points ahead of Vancouver. They trail San Jose and Anaheim, who are sitting first and second in the Pacific Division, by four points and are three points behind third-place Edmonton. With 12 goals and 27 points, Mikael Backlund leads the Flames in scoring. Johnny Gaudreau (10 goals, 27 points) and Matthew Tkachuk (7 goals, 25 points) round out the top three in team scoring. Johnson, who turned aside 28 shots in Saturday's win, has a 14-8-1 record with a 2.28 GAA and a .922 save percentage this season.
JETS' TEAM SCOPE:The Jets dropped a 4-3 decision to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday and lost leading scorer Patrik Laine, the No. 2 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, after he suffered a concussion from a clean hit by Jake McCabe. There is no timeline on his return. "He will go through the stages of recovery with it, and when the symptoms subside, we'll start increasing the workload and then get back on the ice," Jets head coach Paul Maurice told WinnipegJets.com on Sunday. In Laine's absence, Drew Stafford will move up to play on a line with Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers. Chris Thorburn is expected to draw back into the lineup with Laine sidelined.
