Season series: The Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames are meeting for the first time this pre-season with split-squad games going simultaneously in each city. Calgary will host Edmonton at Scotiabank Saddledome in one split-squad game, while the Oilers will welcome the Flames at Rogers Place in the other.

Flames team scope: Mark Jankowski is expected to make his pre-season debut when Calgary visits Edmonton on Monday. Jankowski, the No. 21 pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, completed his four-year career at Providence College last spring and had six points in eight games with Stockton of the American Hockey League in April. Forwards Chris Higgins and Lauri Korpiskoski, and defenceman Nicklas Grossmann -- all of whom are in camp with the Flames on player try-outs -- could join Jankowski in the lineup. All three played in the NHL's Western Conference last season: Higgins with the Vancouver Canucks, Grossman with the Arizona Coyotes, and Korpikoski with the Oilers.
Oilers team scope: Defenceman Adam Larsson is expected to make his pre-season debut in Edmonton. Larsson was acquired in the offseason from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Taylor Hall -- the first overall selection in the 2010 draft. Forward Milan Lucic, signed to a reported seven-year, $42 million contract in July, will also make his debut. Lucic had 20 goals and 55 points in 81 games with the Los Angeles Kings in 2014-15. He is expected to skate on a line with Jordan Eberle and 22-year-old Drake Caggiula, who was signed to a two-year entry-level contract with the Oilers after recording 51 points in 39 games as a senior at the University of North Dakota. Jesse Puljujarvi, selected with the No. 4 pick in June, is also expected to dress for Edmonton.
