SEASON SERIES:Friday's match-up will be the first of two meetings between the Flames and Senators this season. They conclude the series on Jan. 26, 2017 when the Flames make a stop in the nation's capital. In 2015-16, the Flames went 0-1-1 against the Senators in their two-game set. Johnny Gaudreau led Calgary in scoring against Ottawa with two goals and four points in a pair of games last year. Sam Bennett, Sean Monahan and TJ Brodie trailed him with three points against Ottawa last year.

SENATORS TEAM SCOPE: Ottawa kicked off their Western Canadian road swing with a 3-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. Craig Anderson made 22 saves in his first shutout of the season while Ryan Dzingel (2) and Jean-Gabriel Pagaeu scored for the Senators. Captain Erik Karlsson leads his team in scoring with two goals and seven points through six games. Dzingel, the Senators seventh round pick at the 2011 NHL Draft, is second in team scoring with four goals and six points. Anderson has appeared in five of Ottawa's six games, posting a 4-1-0 record with a 2.94 GAA and a .903 save percentage.
FLAMES TEAM SCOPE:Calgary is looking to build off back-to-back wins in Chicago and St. Louis earlier this week. Brian Elliott got the start in both victories, making a combined 54 saves on 57 shots. Bennett registered three points in the wins over the Blackhawks and Blues and now has five points in his last three skates. Bennett is tied with Gaudreau and Mark Giordano for second in team scoring with five points on the year. Right winger Troy Brouwer leads the team with three goals and six points through eight games
