The Flames will make a stop in Vancouver on Thursday

The Flames' penultimate pre-season game comes on Thursday night when they take on the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena at 8:00 p.m. MT.

Sportsnet and Sportsnet One will carry Thursday's broadcasts with possible regional restrictions in place. Sportsnet 960 The FAN will carry the Flames' radio broadcast.

Mike Smith is expected to get the start in Vancouver. The veteran netminder has played in two pre-season games, picking up one win last week. He made 15 saves on 17 shots in a 4-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes last Friday.

After making several cuts on Tuesday, the Flames will ice a veteran-laden roster against the Canucks. With many of his players well-versed in the system put in place last year, head coach Glen Gulutzan has high expectations for the final two exhibition games.

"We're looking to see a semblance of the team that finished off last year's regular season," he said following a lengthy skate at the Corral on Wednesday.

"Back to the way we played, the things that lent itself to our success in the second half (of the season). We want to see those things taking shape right away, early. We've covered 95 percent of the material we wanted to cover. There's not much new here. There's a few little tweaks here and there with the way we want to play.

"We should see a real good semblance of that game in the last two (games)."

Calgary currently has 16 forwards, eight defencemen and three goaltenders on the roster. Marek Hrivik and Daniel Pribyl also remain in Calgary as they recover from injuries suffered at camp.

The Flames will close out the pre-season at home on Saturday when they host the Winnipeg Jets at 7:00 p.m. MT. Tickets are available HERE.
